Which one is recommended, "Abe" at 4th Street or "Abe" at 8th Street? Please let me know if you do not mind.
Paid $40 for best lunch menu and only got this little food. Taste is okay but definitely no worth the price or wait. Set meal also had coffee and a miso soup not in photos
Crisp and fresh tempura cooked right in front of you. You can end your meal with tempura soaked in green tea broth over rice (or without the broth, if you prefer). Remember to make a reservation as the place is small and Michelin-rated!
Very, very interesting place. Small and compact but that's what these old Ginza shops are. Elevator down will only start exactly at 5pm! Interesting!! The food? Excellent. Frying is one of the hardest art of cooking but here they controlled the oil temperafure well and everything is perfect and not oily. The shrimp is out of this world. Must make reservation before going. Will return. Excellent place!
Great place. Visited in June 2016. Counter seating.
Excellent and fresh tempura in a small, cozy shop.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the portion size. Don’t get me wrong, their Tempuras are delicious (They are a Michelin Guide restaurant). But the portions are way too small. The prices and the portions do not match and was really dissapointed and still hungry.
Absolutely great food
Very light and delicious. Cheap for what you get. If you get the eel, you're in luck. That's the best, soft and perfectly lightly fried, possibly better than the shrimp! Really is no guilt fried food, you can eat a lot without getting bloated, and the batter is amazing. Do take care trying to find this place though. It's in the basement in a small alley.
The price of Lunch Tendon, a bowl of rice topped with tempura, is 1,000 yen. Tasty!
The restaurant is the original store of the 2 store chain restaurant, the tempura was superb and the ten-don was the most outstanding dish of the evening (Set -¥5000)Service was one of a kind, the waitress let us eat even though it was going to close in 30 minutes
Great tempura. Extremely lucky, I went to the restaurant at the opening time and can get the seat. So delicious tempura. Awesome service. All staffs speak fluent English.Reasonable up market price.
Taste matched to the price!
Cosy place with a friendly and helpful staff that is definitely worth visiting. Very tasty tempura, but better do your reservation to be sure, that there is a place for you. Staff is speaking decent English, so communication is easy. There is a lunch menu worth choosing (~¥3000-¥4000). Tempura dishes are very tasty and you can speak directly with the cook that is preparing your meal in front of you. The waitress is dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono and is very kind to you. Tea is included in a price, but you can only pay in cash.
Not so great for vegetarians, not because they don't have options, but because of cross contamination- if you are allergic to Shell fish, oysters, etc stay away. But my friends loved the place so if you are into tempura and can handle the meats and sea food, go for it!!
This is a tempura restaurant that ranks in the top 5000 eating log, but I was lucky enough to visit without visiting in advance without being lined up. A small shop with mainly counter seats. The menu has tempura and tempura, but this time we chose tempura lunch. 2 pieces of shrimp, 1 dish of seafood, 5 dishes of vegetables and rice miso soup pickles.Seafood was conger eel today and it was sour and delicious. Confucius bone? And crispy fried food like rice crackers came. In addition, the prawns are also pleasing to eat! Vegetables were sweet potato, pumpkin, green pepper, young corn, eggplant, and eggplant was juicy and delicious. In addition to tempura, you can eat two types of salt. The overall fried condition is crispy and delicious.
Excellent tiny tempura restaurant. There is just on table for 4 and a few seats by the counter. Very good food, Michelin guide rated, friendly service, fair prices. Good sake. You need to take the elevator to the basement of a building in order to get to the restaurant. Look at the posted pictures to get an idea of how the facade looks like.
A queue to get seated, but worth the wait.
Very good restaurant, excelent and light quality of tempura. Service was great as well. I would recommend!!
It’s pretty damn good. Had a crab claw tempura, and I loved it!
Came in for lunch. The lunch set was delicious and plentiful for its price.
It is a tempura specialty store in Ginza published in Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand. It seems that the owner was a tempura craftsman. Restaurant is 12 seats at the counter center, but is a configuration that table 4 seats, the thought that I want to eat fried is that Mr. Tenpuraya If you were sitting in basically counter is in the counter seat center so enjoy the fried I can feel This time, we had 10 dishes of tempura, shrimp kakiage donburi, and dessert. The amount was just right, the batter was very refreshing and very easy to eat with delicious tempura. It was just the right balance because I couldn't eat any more tempura. The baby corn tempura was baked once with fire and then fried, and I was very satisfied that I could feel the fine processing in places.
Really great tempura. Less than 20 seats in the basement. For this reason it might be quite crowded during the lunchtime. Take elevator from the streetlevel to B1 and enjoy. Bib gourmand recommendation.
Very good
Small place, but they'll make you feel welcome as much as they can.
5 stars! If you can find it.
Tasty Tempura!
Worth with the price
An amazing tempura place. We ordered the dinner set and were really happy with the meal. There was a short wait, even though we arrived just as it opened for dinner, so be prepared to wait during peak hours. The tempura was light and not at all greasy. Service is attentive and quick. They accept credit card, including amex.
Best tempura!
Cosy, nice place for fans of tempura. We tried second set. Unusual dish - rice in tea with shrimps, it's a must try.
Great Tempura!!
Very nice. Maybe a bit pricey.
Love the tempura here. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience but not cheap
The food tastes great. The chef knows very well how to deep fry each item and how to make them more tasty. Don’t miss their hot Sake which is so amazingly great(~850¥). At the end of my dish they brought cold coffee with some kind of sweet which had ‘sweet red bean paste’ inside which was also very delicious. The whole dinner cost me around 6500¥ which is not a lot compared to other restaurants in the Tokyo’s michelin list.
The restaurant is little busy at lunchtime but tempura is worth for price.Recommend to reserve before you go.
Just the tendon is fine, no need for the side ramen. Only a small wait, worth it. The lady behind the counter is so friendly and helpful, hospitality at its best. Try to plum wine sparkling, it’s also very good!
A small family restaurant situated on the basement floor of a building in Ginza that specializes in tempura cooked foods. They have a few set menus to choose from and is a requirement that each guest orders a individual set.
Very nice tempura
Very good tempura restaurant at reasonable price. The restaurant is tiny and always crowded. Be prepared to wait if no reservation.
Excellent. You might have to buy into an expensive set, but it's totally worth it.
The best tempura I've ever had. Totally worth trying!
Didn't know tempura could be this good! Amazing meal.
Very well cooked tempura dinner. Crab was just amazing
Amazing Tempura and fast friendly service....
Good food but a little hard to find. This tiny restaurant was tucked away in an alley-like street and you need to use the elevator down. The service was super friendly and they have an English menu available. They offer several types of set courses. It was good and satisfied my craving. I would definitely come back, but would get the tempura sauce on the side so that way I can taste the crunchiness better.[TIP] They accept credit cards but only for 5000YEN or more.
Tempura abe
Taste was OK. There is a michelin guide 2017 sticker in front of the restaurant which reassure us for the quality. However, not sure if this is normal for restaurants in Tokyo, but we were charged for 800 JPY for (very) small appetizer plate additional from the dinner course. We did ask the waitress on this and she point to (very) small word in the menu (on the top) mention about it.
Great tempura you can get from this quaint restaurant in the basement. They serve seasonal seafood in their menu, highly recommended to allow the chef to decide the course for you. On top of our set lunch menu, ordered sea urchin and was absolutely blown away by the size and taste of it. Set meal comes with either kakiage tendon or ochazuke. To finish off the meal, they serve red bean taiyaki which is crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Highly recommended to try if you're near!
